“You can’t let them see your fear, you have to be strong.” Delia said to me, she had this battered look in her eyes. Like she has given up all hopes and faith. She was the small little girl that was bruised.
“Why not?” I asked, overwhelmed with these rules. I couldn’t do anything. I had to wake up at dawn, be in sync, and not show fear. Everything around me made me more scared.
“They can shape shift into your precious loved ones. They can change the feature of their faces into anyone they have seen in their life spans.” Ty said, I learned that his sister hanged herself with an extension cord on the ladder, after she was raped by the robots.
“They changed into my husband when I was about to jump off the bridge. He, well, they told me that they loved me and they wanted to stay. They said things would get better and I believe them. Why? Because my husband would never lie to me. I trusted him, and look what he has done.”
“If you don’t mind me asking, how did he die?”
“He rebelled about the robots, they punched him so hard, his head detached from his body. They left his body there to remind us, that never to raise up against them. Most of us either were killed by them or we couldn’t let them get the privilege, so we did it ourselves.”
“I-” before I could speak, a loud screeching alarm sounded throughout the building. Everyone shuffled to get up, never saying a word. They ran in the same direction, all heading to center of the place. I got up and ran with them.
When we got to the center, machines with red eyes where there waiting for us. If you look too long in their eyes, you could see fire. Their arms where metal, and their stomachs had electricity flowing through it. And just like that, their metal skin scrambled into human flesh, their dreadful eyes were no longer red with blood, it was now blue and some were brown. Their oily heads with no longer a metal skull, it was a human face.
How dear they! How dear they defile us by being like us!! They were monsters! Inhumane beast!
I wanted to shout but I was too scared.
“Oh they look so frighten!” one robot laughed, as it walk through the aisle of people, taunting us.
“I don’t know why, they CAUSED IT!” another robot said, slamming his hands on the table, shattering it.
“How did we caused it?” I thought to myself, or at least I thought I did. All eyes turns towards me.
“Why? Let me tell you why?” A menacing voice said, before arms grabbed me, and pull me towards the center. I left let a toy in the toy machine, being picked up and drag to the prize box, where on lucky kid got there new toy.
